Abstract
Collecting library materials in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico involves many challenges and requires specific knowledge of the book trade and publishing trends as well as much time and energy. This paper will detail these challenges and explain through experiences and anecdotes how one company, Libros de Barlovento, accomplishes the work of acquiring materials, particularly legal materials, in these two islands for library clients in the United States,Canada, and Europe.
